On June 1, 2019, Professor Huang Rongsheng, former secretary of the Party Committee and doctoral supervisor of Southwest University, was invited to the School of Marxism to preside over the defense of doctoral dissertations and gave a special Lecture on “Several Issues Concerning the Construction of Marxist Theories”.  The lecture was chaired by Zhang Xiangdong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Executive Vice President of the School of Marxism.  More than 80 teachers, doctoral students, and graduate students from the School of Marxism listened to the lecture.

In the lecture, Huang Rongsheng focused on three issues: the connotation of Marxist Theory, the mission of Marxist Theory, and the discipline construction of Marxist Theory. She started with the establishment of Marxist Theory Discipline as a first-level discipline and explained（the development process of the discipline, and proposed to do a holistic study of Marxist Theory加to have a thorough and precise grasp of the Marxist Theory Discipline System.  Regarding the discipline construction of Marxist Theory, she said that it is necessary to further improve the quality of discipline construction, condense discipline research directions, optimize talent training programs, improve the quality of discipline teams and institutional settings, to promote the standardization and institutionalization of Marxist Theory Discipline.

Huang Rongsheng's wonderful explanation provided guiding suggestions for the construction and development of the college's Marxist Theory Discipline. Finally, the lecture ended with warm applause.
