On the morning of September 6, 2020, Professor Li Xiangjun, former director of the theoretical department, senior editor, and doctoral tutor of Guangming Daily, was invited to give a session in the conference room on the third floor of the School of Marxism on the theme of "Grasp Xi Jinping’s New Era of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. An academic lecture on the theme of propaganda of ideas. The lecture was hosted by Wang Mingqin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Henan University and Minister of Propaganda. Yang Guanghui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marxism, Ren Dongjing, Deputy Dean, and some representatives of teachers and students attended the lecture.

The lecture started with "How to Understand the Theme of Current Theoretical Research and Propaganda", and pointed out the current spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and Xi Jinping’s New Era Socialism Thought with Chinese Characteristics, the Party’s theoretical policies and major decision-making arrangements, and 40 years of reform and opening up Experience and enlightenment, major theories and practical hot issues, and other seven research and publicity themes; then, Professor Li Xiangjun with deep academic foundation, broad academic vision, humorous language, vivid and concrete examples, in-depth discussion of theoretical research The importance of the topic selection and the six basic principles for determining the scope of the topic, while emphasizing the political requirements of theoretical research, fully demonstrated the party's theoretical development prospects for the teachers and students present, and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant.
